Dataset description

This table contains figures on the number of crimes recorded per month and per year. These are broken down by the type of crime and per municipality/neighborhood. The attempts were also included in the recorded crimes. For some crimes (e.g. murder/murder) this results in a much higher number than just the number of completed crimes. The data per municipality is presented for all years according to the municipal classification of 1 January 2023. Since July 2018, it is no longer possible to record in a single registration multiple offences related to each other (cooperation). An example of this is a street robbery in which a firearm (arm possession) is used. If multiple offences occur in one registration, only the most serious offence was counted before July 2018. As a result of this adjustment, there is an increase in a number of offences compared to 2018. It mainly concerns housewreck, special laws including money laundering, arms trafficking including arms ownership, drug trafficking, damage to public order and other social integrity, including insults. The increase was therefore particularly visible in the last 6 months of 2018. On the total number of crimes, this adjustment has only a limited effect. For the whole of 2018, this leads to an increase of around 1.0 %. Since April 30, 2020, it is possible to report WhatsApp fraud via the Internet (also called friend-in-emergence fraud). This was immediately made frequent use. In the months of May to December 2020, approximately 20,000 reports of WhatsApp fraud were made. Declarations concern registered crimes for which a ‘trial verbal declaration’ has been drawn up. Several reports may have been made per crime. Internet declarations can only be made for a selected number of offences and only if there is no detection indication. Data available from: 2012 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are regularly updated. As a result, small differences can arise from previous publications. Updating the figures is necessary in order, for example, to retroactively process the reclassification of municipalities or adaptation of coding with retroactive effect. Figures on declarations and online declarations are updated after each quarter. Changes as of 16 January 2023: Figures for December and the 2022 annual total have been added. In addition, the table is now presented according to municipal classification of 2023. When are new figures coming? February 15, the figures for January will be added.
