Dataset description

This table provides figures on the number of crimes recorded per year. These are broken down by type of crime and by district and neighbourhood. In the case of registered crimes, attempts are also included. For some crimes (e.g. murder/death), this results in a much higher number than the number of completed crimes. The data per neighbourhood is presented for all years according to the administrative classification of 2020. This geographical refinement follows from the agreements made at the start of publishing police figures in 2018. The publication of sexual offences (including child pornography and child prostitution) is limited, as agreed, in connection with disclosure risk, to annual totals per municipality. Since July 2018, it is no longer possible to record several offences linked to each other (coupling) in a single registration. An example of this is a street grabbing using a firearm (weapon possession). If multiple offences occur in one registration, only the most serious offence was counted before July 2018. As a result of this adjustment, a number of offences show an increase compared to 2018. These are mainly domestic violation (10 %), special laws (9 %) including money laundering, arms trafficking (16 %) including possession of weapons, drug trafficking (5 %), public order attack (8 %) and other social integrity (9 %) including insult. The increase was therefore particularly visible in the last 6 months of 2018. This adjustment has only a limited impact on the total number of crimes. For 2018, this leads to an increase of around 0.5 %. Data available from: 2012 Status of the figures: The figures in this table are regularly updated. This may result in small differences from previous publications. Updating of the figures is necessary in order, for example, to allow retrospective processing of the reclassification of municipalities or retrospective adjustment of coding. Changes as of 17 January 2022: The figures for 2021 have been added. When will there be new figures? The 2021 figures will be updated in February 2022.
