Dataset description

This table contains data on the history of registered unemployment. The figures have not been corrected for seasonal influences. Until 1988, monthly figures, from 1989 to 2000, included three-month averages below the middle month and quarterly figures from 2001 onwards. Data available from January 1952 to Q3 2014 Status of the figures Figures based on the EBB are always final. Changes as of 9 April 2015: None, this table has been discontinued. Changes as of 20 November 2014: The data for the second and third quarter 2014 have been added. When are new figures coming? This table has been discontinued. The update of 20 November 2014 was the last update of this table. As of 2015, CBS has switched to the international definition of unemployment. This transition is part of the strategy to align as much as possible with international definitions, thereby enabling comparability and avoiding confusion. The figures according to the national definition are continuing for the time being as the figures on registered unemployment continued when the national definition of unemployment was switched. With the transition to the international definition, the figures on registered unemployment are stopped in order to avoid confusion due to too many definitions. Figures on the number of registered jobseekers at the UWV work company are still available, see the link in paragraph 3.
