Dataset description

This table provides information on the number of records and arrests of suspects of an offence recorded during the reporting year, by crime group. The suspects are distinguished by gender, nationality and whether or not they are registered in the population register of a Dutch municipality. The table contains only absolute figures. When three suspects are registered in one crime, we count three suspects in this table. When one person is registered as a suspect in three different crimes, we also count three registrations in the table. Data on suspects’ registrations are available from 2005. Due to the disappearance of the Recognition Service Systems (HKS), figures on detained suspects are available from 1999 to 2014. Status of the figures: The figures until 2019 are final. The figures for 2020 and 2021 are provisional. Provisional figures give an underestimation of the final number of records and detentions. The provisional number in the most recent year is a few percent lower than the final number. Changes as of March 2022: Figures for 2019 and 2020 have been changed due to compliance with information. Figures for 2021 have been added. When will there be new figures? New figures on suspect registrations from the previous year will be available at the beginning of 2023.
