Dataset description

This table contains data on R & D expenditure for own and outsourced research and development activities. Figures are given for the following sectors: — companies — institutions — higher education institutions. As of reporting year 2011, Dutch R & D figures have changed significantly compared to previous years. Important reasons for changing the Dutch R & D figures are: — A new version of the Eurostat Regulation from the reporting year 2011. — Changes in the CBS business register. The following changes have been made: — Expanding the R & D definition. — Changes in the processing of the R & D research. — Adding the R & D expenses of companies with fewer than 10 employees. — Reducing the total benefits of higher education institutions as a basis for R & D expenditures. As a result of an increase of 26 percent in total expenditure on own R & D activities of all companies in 2011. Data available from 2011 to 2017 Status of the figures: The figures until 2015 are final. The 2016 figures are further provisional and the figures for 2017 are provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive. Changes as of 18 October 2019: No, no, no. This table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable.
