Dataset description

This table contains figures on retail sales and volume developments. The figures can be broken down by industry according to the CBS Standard Business Classification (SBI 2008). The evolution is represented as a percentage change from a previous period and by means of indices with the base year 2015. Sales and volume developments are published in two forms. First, as year-on-year developments where growth is central to the same period in the previous year. These figures are presented uncorrected and bought-day adjusted. The second form concerns period-on-period developments, e.g. quarter-on-quarter developments. Period-on-period developments are possible by applying seasonal adjustment. Data available from: January 2005. Status of the figures: The figures for 2022 are provisional, the remaining figures are final. The figures for a calendar year shall become final no later than five months after the end of that calendar year. Due to the response, the figures can change until then and the status of ‘provisional’ is maintained. Amendments as of 31 October 2022: Figures from September 2022 and the third quarter of 2022 have been added. Figures from previous periods in 2022 may have been adjusted. When are new figures coming? For monthly statistics, CBS publishes as a rule four weeks after the end of the reporting month. For quarterly statistics, CBS publishes on the last working day of the second month after the quarter. After publication of final results, CBS will only adjust the results if major adjustments and/or corrections are necessary.
