Dataset description

This table shows the quantities of fish landed in Dutch ports by Dutch and other EU vessels (EU=European Union). The table presents only the main species of fish broken down by fresh fish and frozen fish. Fresh fish is mainly brought to the fish auctions. Frozen fish is not traded through the auctions, but goes directly to the trader, the hospitality industry or the fish processing industry. The European Union (EU) regulates marine and coastal fisheries with a quota system. However, the landing figures in this table are not comparable to the fishing quotas set by the EU for the Netherlands, as other EU vessels also land fish in the Netherlands and because quotas can be exchanged. Data available from 1994 to March 2015. Status of the figures: Errors were found in the final figures for reporting year 2013 and the preliminary figures for 2014. The figures are too low because landings of fish by foreign vessels have not been fully delivered to CBS. The magnitude of the error is estimated at a deviation of a few percent and, according to CBS estimates, has no major impact. At the moment, not all the problems surrounding this registration have been solved. As a result, the corrections cannot yet be incorporated into this table. As a result, the figures for the periods in question have been replaced by a point (the figure is unknown, insufficiently reliable or secret). As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive. Changes as of 10 March 2017: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. This table is followed by: Fisheries and aquaculture; quantity of fish, crustaceans and shellfish. See paragraph 3
