Dataset description

This table contains data on the income and capital of self-employed persons. A distinction is made between, on the one hand, the persons for whom the main income is generated from self-employment and, on the other hand, all persons with income from self-employment. Numbers of income sources of self-employed are also reported. The figures in this table are broken down by type of self-employed person, industry, gender, age, migration background, household position, number of persons with household income, and by income and wealth groups. All statistics in this table are at person level, including capabilities; (business) assets are determined by household, and are assigned to all persons in the household as a measure of prosperity. Reference date of target population and assets is 1 January of the reporting year. For the older years 2007 to 2010, the reference date of capital is 1 January of the year following the reporting year. The General Business Register (ABR) is used to determine the SBI of self-employed persons. The ABR suffered several trend breaks in the period 2007-2011. This leads to a sharp decrease in the number of self-employed in financial services (K) in 2010. Therefore, caution should be taken when comparing the figures to SBI. Data available from 2007 to 2016. Status of the figures: The data is provisional. As this table has been discontinued, the data will no longer be definitive. Changes as of 1 March 2019: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. This table is followed up by the self-employed table; income, capital, characteristics. see paragraph 3.
