Dataset description

This table contains annual figures on self-employed persons as determined on the basis of integral income registrations. The data is special to the type of self-employed. This is a subdivision between self-employed persons with (zmp) or without staff (ZTP) and assisting family members. These groups are broken down into those where the income as self-employed is the main income or the secondary income. Information is also available for self-employed and zmp’ers about whether they work as an independent entrepreneur, DGA or ‘other’ self-employed. These figures are further broken down by different personal characteristics and the sector (SBI 2008) in which people work as self-employed. The General Business Register (ABR) is used to determine the SBI of self-employed persons. The ABR suffered several trend breaks in the period 2007-2011. This leads to a sharp decrease in the number of self-employed in financial services (K) in 2010. Therefore, caution should be taken when comparing the figures to SBI. Data available from 2007 to 2019. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are provisional. Changes as of 3 December 2021: None, this table has been discontinued. When are new figures coming? No longer applicable. This table is followed up by the self-employed table; personal characteristics and industry (SBI 2008). see paragraph 3.
