Dataset description

Van de Westerschelde was made an ecotopian card in 1996. A salty ecotope map is constructed by merging several layers of information from the intertidal area: soil height map (height and depth), geomorphological map, dry fall duration map, flow map and salt map. The soil height map is based on loding (depth) 1996 and laser altimetry (height) 1996. Laser altimetry data combined with singlebeam specialist loading data where the laser altimetry data has been given a higher priority than the loding data. In order to complete the entire ecotope card, it was then supplemented by multibeam landings and additional data on Flemish territory. The single-beam box loads used with recording dates (start and end dates): 0100p9602 02-01-1996 23-03-1996* 0200p9601 10-01-1996 05-06-1996 0300p9601 16-02-1996 03-06-1996 0400p9601 19-02-1996 17-04-1996 0500p9601 22-02-1996 30-07-1996 0600p9601 05-02-1996 02-08-1996 1800p9601 17-01-1996 31-01-1996 * The original data of box 1 is no longer available. Therefore, the existing ESRI grid was used for box 1 (g1_1996). Topographical data for the addition to the rinds: 30-07-1996 to 14-01-1997 Other topographical data (dykes, plates, banks etc.) is no longer available. Service Desk Data cannot deliver this. Laser altimetry data has not yet been collected in 1996. The grid is therefore supplemented by the topographical data from the original (‘old’) ecotope grid of 1996 whose origin is unclear. The compilation of the data is therefore different from other ecotope maps. The lodingsdatagrid (box loads + additional lodings) is ‘over’ the existing grid so that it is supplemented with the topographic data. Depth data for the Sloehaven Vlissingen are not available for 1996. This area is filled with data from the 2001 grid. The singlebeam data is interpolated with digipol.
