Dataset description

This table contains data on persons using second-line subsidised legal aid, distinguished by type of addition, jurisdiction, gender, age and origin. Personal data are missing from persons who are registered without identifiable personal information or who do not appear in the Basic Persons Registration (BRP). These people are not included in the table. This applies in particular to asylum, aliens’ law and automatic additions. As the number of unique legal aid users per type of addition and jurisdiction is presented per reporting year, the number of persons per jurisdiction is increased to more than the total number of persons and the number per type of addition and jurisdiction to more than the total number per type of addition. A person who has had an addition more than once within a reporting year is counted only once in the total number of persons with additions. In addition, for each jurisdiction for which they have been added, this person is counted once in the relevant jurisdiction. From reporting year 2012, this person is also counted once per type of addition and within it per jurisdiction. For example: a person who receives two regular additions in the field of civil law in 2012 and three light advice additions in the field of administrative law shall be — Counted 1 times in Total, — 1 time in Total Civil Law, — 1 time in Total Administrative Law, — 1 time in Regulier total, — 1 time in light advice total, — 1 time in Regulier Civil Law and — Once in light advice on administrative law. Data available from: 2007. Status of the figures: The figures until 2019 are final. Changes as of October 2021: The preliminary figures for 2020 have been added. As from the publication of the figures for 2020, the publication strategy has been adjusted. When updating the table, the new year is always first published as provisional. In the next update, the figures become final. When are new figures coming? The new figures on users of subsidised legal aid appear annually in the third quarter.
