Dataset description

This table contains data on young people aged 12 to 25 who are suspected of committing a crime. Young people are distinguished by registered and arrested suspects, gender, origin grouping, highest education and recidivism. The table shows the number of suspects of crimes per population group in absolute and relative figures. The relative figure is calculated per 10,000 persons of the selected population. Persons who do not appear in the Municipal Basic Administration (GBA) often lack personal data. These people are included in the absolute figures, but not in the relative. A person who has been registered or arrested more than once within a reporting year is counted only once in the total number of suspects. Data on the suspects are available from 2006 to 2014. The highest level of education is available until 2013. Status of the figures: The figures up to 2013 are final. The 2014 figures are provisional. In previous years, it has been found that preliminary figures on arrested suspects underestimate the final number. On average, the provisional number of suspects arrested is about 4 % lower than the final number. Preliminary figures on registered suspects hardly differ from the final number. As a result of a change in the police registration system, as of the reporting year 2012, no recidivism figures on registered suspects are available. Changes as of September 2019: None, the table has been discontinued. The data from which the figures on the highest level of education followed have been revised with effect from the reporting year 2014. In the future, a table will follow on the basis of these data. When new figures become available: New figures will not be available, the table has been discontinued.
