Dataset description

This table shows the total import and export value, the annual changes and the trade balance by island of the Caribbean Netherlands. A total for the Caribbean Netherlands is not available. Due to the alignment with the Dutch definition of imports and exports, trade between the islands is counted among themselves. When publishing a total figure for the Caribbean Netherlands, this would lead to an overestimation. Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius became a public body of the Netherlands as of 10 October 2010. Data available from: third quarter 2011 for imports and exports of Bonaire, fourth quarter 2011 for imports of Sint Eustatius, first quarter 2012 for imports of Saba and second quarter 2012 for exports of Saba and Sint Eustatius. These different starting dates are due to differences in the start of the observation of the data on the various islands. Status of the figures: The figures on the international trade of the Caribbean Netherlands can be adjusted based on the availability of new or updated source material. As a result, the figures at the first publication have a provisional character. These preliminary figures become final by an update about five months after the end of the quarter. In the second quarter of the current year, the final annual figure of the previous year will also be available on StatLine. Changes as of 10 May 2022: The preliminary figures for the first quarter of 2022 have been added. The figures for the fourth quarter of 2021 and the 2021 annual figures are final. When are new figures coming? The figures are available for the first time about six weeks after the end of the quarter.
