Dataset description

Indices of traffic intensity on the main road categories, broken down by daily species and by part of the country. This publication contains information on a development of the traffic intensity (number of motor vehicles passed) on permanent counting points on state and provincial roads outside the built-up area. Data available from: Annual figures are available from 1994; monthly figures are available since 1998. Status of the figures: Monthly figures for the current year are provisional. The annual figures of the national roads are final until 2005; for the other roads are provisionally the 2005 annual figure. Changes as of 15 December 2011: Due to various changes to the road managers, a revision was made the calculation methodology is necessary. The differences with earlier published traffic indices in this series are: a. the index calculation is now based on comparison of annual figures; previously, monthly figures were linked to an annual figure. B. Extreme values with a development of more than 10 % (both plus and min) are no longer corrected but “included” in the calculations. c. traffic indices are only published for the Netherlands and the parts of the country, broken down by national and provincial roads. These changes have stopped the publication of the current series; the recalculated series of traffic indices will now be published in a new table that can be found via the hyperlink in paragraph 3. When are new figures coming? This table has been discontinued.
