Dataset description

This table contains figures for urban or public sewage treatment plants under management at water or sewage boards. The table shows, for each regional water quality manager, the following results: — the numbers and design capacity of the urban sewage treatment plants (RWzis), per treatment type. — the cargoes of organic matter, nutrients (fertilisers) and heavy metals in the discharged waste water (influent) and the treated waste water (effluent). As of 2017, the data on heavy metals will only be published for the same years. — the purification efficiency for organics and nutrients (fertilisers). — the quantities and destination of the sewage sludge released, containing the nutrients (fertilisers) and heavy metals present therein. As of 2017, the data on sewage sludge will only be published for the same years. Data available from: 2005. Status of the figures: The figures in this table are final. Changes as of 12 May 2022: The table is supplemented by figures for 2020. Due to new information about 2019, the total influent freight COD and the amount of pollution units in the fluent both increased by 4 % in 2019 compared to the previous version. This also leads to minor changes in underlying breakdowns in these two parameters. When are new figures coming? The new figures for 2021 will be published in March 2023.
