Vulnerability to oxidation of organic matter in soil processing

The Province of Utrecht has drafted an amendment banning cracks and ploughs in the Veenareas. This is laid down in the Provincial Spatial Structure Vision and the Water Plan. In addition to making the Soil Map Veenareas province Utrecht, scale 1:25,000 included the task of developing a method to map the vulnerability of the soil without and with soil processing, such as ploughs and cracks. For this, two derived maps, scale 1:50.000, were made. The vulnerability is determined in particular by the structure of the soil profile, the organic dust content of the moist layers in the profile and the depth at which soil cultivation takes place. For the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, which has been part of the province of Utrecht since 1 January 2019, no data is yet available.
