Transitional and coastal waters. For the purpose of registering chemical water quality, the 1 to 12 mile zone has been added as territorial water. Surface water bodies are divided into four categories: coastal water, transitional waters, rivers and lakes. A body of water can have changed naturally, artificially or greatly. The Rijkswaterstaat Water Framework Directive on surface water bodies contains the water bodies under management at Rijkswaterstaat and is part of the national stock with WFD surface water bodies in which the surface water bodies of water boards are also included. The national stock of KRW surface water bodies is accessed via the Water Information House.
