Water Opportunities Map Urban Area — Tension Level

In order to indicate in which direction urban expansion can best be sought from a (geo-)hydrological point of view, a map of opportunities has been created by combining three criteria which gives an indication of the degree of suitability for urban expansion. The criteria used are: * Infiltration possibilities: The possibilities for infiltration are assessed on three factors, namely: thickness of the coating, indication of marsh intensity and development possibilities for freshwater resources. * Fastening sensitivity: Sensitivity has been assessed on a combination of the factors of clay coating thickness, hollow bog thickness and soil structure. * Water management: Sites where there is an increased risk of water nuisance are indicated on the basis of salt intensity, relative altitude and soil build-up. The legend of the map gives an indication of the effort needed for urban development: from low to very high.
