Water purification takes place through many different (chemical, physical, biological) processes. It is not possible to put this in an indicator. Therefore, an aspect of purification is highlighted in this map, filtration by Quaggamosselen. These mussels have had major effects on water quality over the last five years, including the occurrence of blue algae blooms. This map shows the extent to which the water column is filtered by mussels. With high filtering, there is substantial influence on water quality and visibility. This map is composed of the actual measurement locations using circles.
