Bathing water (provincial and Rijkswateren) from Zwemwaterregister — Provinces (INSPIRE harmonised)

The approximately 700 official bathing water sites are designated as such by the provinces each year, if deemed appropriate. During the bathing season (from 1 May to 1 October) the water at the bathing water locations is checked by the water quality manager approximately every 14 days. In case of particulars, this will be communicated via www.zwemwater.nl, NOS teletext page 725 and on the spot. The government advises against swimming in other waters, as this does not examine the safety and water quality. The monitoring of the bathing water sites is carried out through intensive cooperation between the provinces, the environmental services, the water boards and Rijkswaterstaat.
