Dataset description

This map provides an insight into the amount of ‘unsuitable material for consumption or processing’ in kton/year that is released as waste stream at companies in South Holland on a municipal level. This diverse category consists of all kinds of different organic flows that according to the companies reporting this flow are no longer fit for consumption or processing. These include, for example, fruit and vegetable residues, fruit juices, animal feed residues and rejected foods (which supermarkets are no longer allowed to sell due to expiry date). When companies produce residual flows, these companies are obliged to provide quality and to report quantity to the National Waste Reporting Point (LMA). “Material unfit for consumption or processing” is a residual steam of the food and beverage industry, also known as a VGI residual flow.
