Dataset description

Outer dike areas are spread throughout Zeeland, especially in the Oosterschelde and the Westerschelde. They consist of complexes located against the land swallowing and scorching and the slabs located a little further out of the coast. Sint Philipsland is completely surrounded by swallows and marshes; between North Beveland and Schouwen-Duiveland and there are some large plates (including Neeltje Jans). A large area outside dike areas has previously been inhabited, but due to dike breakthroughs and floods ‘drowned’: the Drowned Land of Saeftinghe and the Drowned Land of South Beveland.
