Dataset description

The map shows how much light was seen in the Netherlands at night in 2020, seen from above, expressed in 10-10 Watts per cm² per steradial. In areas that light up purple, a lot of light is emitted, such as in the greenhouse area in South Holland. In other areas, such as in the north of the Netherlands, little light is emitted apart from the cities. Lighting in the evening and the night allows us to be active longer (sports, nightlife) and contributes to traffic and social safety.
