This file contains NNN nature areas as defined in the Environment Ordinance of the Province of Groningen 2016. In this Environment Regulation, we set the limits and lay down rules for the protection of the Nature Network Netherlands (NNN). NNN nature reserves are existing natural areas or areas to be developed, which lie within the boundaries of the Nature Network. Some of the natural areas to be developed are now agricultural land. Our policy is to purchase these agricultural land on a voluntary basis or to convert them into nature with a subsidy for change of function and then reorganise them. This policy has been further elaborated in the Land Policy Note of the Province of Groningen. According to planning, the Groningen part of the Nature Network was completed in 2027, with a total of 9,800 hectares of new nature being developed.
