Dataset description

What do you see: The map shows the location of areas with potential pollination of agricultural crops by wild pollinators. The areas are represented as zones surrounding small landscape elements, small nature reserves and urban green elements. Wild pollinators (e.g. wild bees, bumblebees, gliders) use these elements and areas as habitat. In the immediate vicinity of these elements and areas, they search for food and pollinate agricultural crops. These zones are divided into three classes on the basis of their landscape location: agricultural, nature and urban. The map provides insight into the contribution of the different types of elements to the potential pollination. Purpose: The map was drawn up as part of the development of a national pollination indicator. The indicator is intended to quantify the extent to which the ecosystem service pollination by wild pollinators meets the current demand for pollination in the Netherlands. If the method is repeated for a later time, it becomes possible to determine a national trend. With the map, the potential supply of pollination in the Netherlands and on a regional scale can be determined. The contribution of the proportion that landscape elements in nature, agricultural and urban areas contribute to the potential supply of pollination can also be determined. The map cannot be applied at plot or element level. This requires additional information and further analysis of the circumstances Important for: The map is primarily intended to support nature policy.
