Dataset description

The LGN7 file is a land-covered grid with a resolution of 25 meters in which 39 forms of land use are distinguished. The stock distinguishes the main agricultural crops, a number of nature classes and urban classes. The LGN7 file has undergone some important changes compared to LGN6. The geometry and thematics on main classes are now based entirely on Top10NL (version 2012). Agricultural plots, greenhouses, orchards, fruit farms, nurseries, sand, heath, forests, water and infrastructure have been taken over from Top10NL. The urban area is defined by the use of land resources (BBG2008). The agricultural area is filled with (aggregated) crops from BRP2012 supplemented by crop classifications based on satellite images. Satellite images from 2012, aerial photographs, Basismap Nature 2012 (BKN2012) and LGN6 were used for the further interpretation of the main classes. Land use files LGN1 and LGN2 were still experimental files with limited accuracy and obvious shortcomings. In LGN3, these shortcomings have largely been solved and LGN3plus greatly improved the usability of the stock for applications in the field of nature and ecology. With the LGN4 file, a new step has been taken by extending the application possibilities of the LGN file. Major improvements made to the LGN4 stock include linking agricultural crops to TOP10 vector and the possibility of detecting land-use changes that occurred in the period 1995-2000. The versions 1-3 of the LGN file were supplied as a single raster file. The LGN7 file, like the LGN4, LGN5 and LGN6 file, does not consist of a single grid file, but forms a collection of files.
