Dataset description

Within the province of Zuid-Holland, the project ‘Bodem in Beeld 2005’ was started in May 2000. The project Soil in Image (BIB) stems from the national objective of the National Environmental Policy Plan (NMP3): ‘the land-covering of soil quality in 2005’. This objective is to be divided into two parts: — the establishment of the work stock of soil remediation (track 1); — gaining insight into the diffuse soil quality (track 2). Within Spoor 2, the province of Zuid-Holland has mapped the general (diffuse) soil quality by drawing up a province-covering soil quality map on a uniform base level (Handreiking basic level soil quality maps, dated 1 October 2003). As part of the Project Soil in Beeld, agreements have been concluded with participating municipalities in which it is agreed that for the urban area the soil quality map is drawn up by the municipality and the soil quality map for the rural area by the province. The soil quality map of the rural area consists of two series of maps, one for the upper ground and one for the ground. These maps reflect the location of the zones and the chemical quality of the unsuspected areas in those zones. Status: The presented soil quality map for the rural area of South Holland has not been adopted by a competent authority and therefore has no formal status under the Ministerial Exemption Scheme on Land Resistance. It is up to the competent authority, usually the municipalities, to further develop the soil quality map and draw up a municipal soil flow policy. The dataset presented here consists of three layers: 1 — the border between the rural and urban area as used within BIB 2 — the BKK for the upper ground 3 — the BKK for the subsurface A combined BKK for rural and urban areas is still in the making.
