Visual heritage — based on canon

This map contains a selection of visual heritage, based on seven different thematic stories. This selection reflects the historical development of the province of South Holland. The storylines relate to: trade and economy, agriculture, water, (military) defenses, governance, urban development and architectural architectural styles. In the selection of visual heritage, as much as possible is drawn from existing sources and inventories, in particular the Canon of Zuid-Holland and the History of South Holland. Next are the storylines in an expert session further supplemented. The selection of visual heritage represents some important events and moments in time, but is not intended to give a complete picture. The year in which the iconic heritage is built is not always unambiguous to find out. Often, different years are used in different sources. used or are different parts of buildings in different periods built. Where possible, we used the years as shown in the regional canons, on the website www.geschiedenisvanzuidholland.nl or in the Monuments Register of the National Cultural Heritage Agency. Where necessary, additional information from different object is used related websites.
