Within the province of Utrecht, 25 water pearls, also known as ‘ecologically valuable waters’, have been identified on the basis of the occurrence of special species. These areas with high potential in the field of water nature and quality are partly inside and partly outside the boundaries of the NNN and Natura 2000. The province of Utrecht is committed to protecting the qualities of these water pearls and realising their potential values. For the municipality of Vijfheerenlanden, which has been part of the province of Utrecht since 1 January 2019, no data is yet available
