Dataset description

Soil suitability for primary agriculture: based on soil type, soil structure and water, it appears that the Wieringermeerpolder, with the exception of the island of Wieringen, is generally very suitable for primary agriculture. Only a few areas have limited possibilities or are less suitable. The Wieringermeerpolder is very sensitive to salty torment: this is a serious problem in the northeast; to a slightly lesser extent and size, this is also a problem in the northwest and southwest of the polder. This increasing salinisation can put pressure on primary agriculture in these areas.
