Dataset description

Agriculture is a map layer or property with its own presentation rules in the national data set AR50 that shows the area state of agricultural land on a scale 1:50 000 adapted for use on scales from 1:20 000 to 1:100 000. The property that will be used to produce the map layer is called ARJORDBR in SOSI format and agricultural area in gml and gdb format. Legal property values according to the code list are: 24 — Completely cultivated and surface-grown land and 25 — inland grazing. AR50 produced by generalisation of FKB-AR5 below the tree limit and interpretation of satellite images above the tree line. Shapes smaller than 15 acres do not appear on the map, but are merged with adjacent areas. Thus, the data set is not suitable for the production of land-use statistics. The data set has been updated every three years with the last year’s version of FKB-AR5 (area resource map on a scale of 1:5000 in the database as of 31.12). The first version of the AR50 data set (year version 2010) was produced by AR5 and N50 as of 31.12.2010, as well as AR-FJELL with satellite images (IMAGE2000) from the period 1994 and 2006. Annual version 2013 (AR5 and N50 as of 31 December 2013) and annual version 2016 (AR5 and N50 as of 31.12.2016). AR-FJELL has not been updated since 2010. The second version of the AR50 data set (year version 2020) was produced by AR5 and N50 as of 31.12.2021, as well as AR-FJELL2 with sentinel-2 images. The production trail has been rewritten with new code. The codework is adjusted to changes in the input data sets. The generalised figures will therefore differ slightly from previous versions. In addition, there is topological correction including smoothing of the figures. Data is downloaded as county or municipal files.
