Dataset description

The data set provides an overview of which areas are protected under the following laws: the Nature Diversity Act of 2009, biotope conservation pursuant to the Game Act 1981, the Nature Conservation Act of 1970, the Act on Nature Conservation of 1954, the Act on Jan Mayen of 1930 and the Act on the Conservation of Nature of 1910. In addition, it contains areas protected under the following legislation in Svalbard: Svalbard Act of 1925 and the Svalbard Environment Act 2002. The data set also provides access to the statutory regulations that apply to each individual safety decision. Protected areas are established primarily to preserve natural values of national importance. These are values we will take care of for all the foreseeable future, also in terms of nature experience and knowledge of nature. The protected areas are managed by the county governor, the municipality or an intermunicipal protection area board.
