The data set shows registered occurrences of selected habitat types, cf. the Regulations relating to selected habitat types, http://lovdata.no/dokument/SF/forskrift/2011-05-13-512.
Eight types of habitats have the status of selected habitat type: Coastal heath, moatland, moorland, calcareous forest, calcareous lakes, hollow oaks, open shallow limeland in boreonemoral zone and olivine forest. Localities of
selected habitats are managed in the Norwegian Environment Agency’s data set Nature types — DN Handbook 13 and Nature Types — the Norwegian Environment Agency’s instructions.
The regulations for selected habitats apply to all localities that meet the requirements of the regulations, regardless of whether the site is registered in Naturbase or not. The State Manager will be able to assist if there is uncertainty as to whether a locality is actually a selected habitat type. In case of doubt, it may be necessary to contact specialist expertise in order to make an assessment.
