Dataset description

The data set ‘MML’ (MML) is based on loose mass maps and datasets for marine boundary (MG), and shows where there can potentially be marine clay — either up in the day or under other loose mass types. MML is only available for areas where loose masses are mapped in a scale of 1:50,000 or more detailed. There is no coverage for MML where loose masses have been mapped on a rougher scale, but marine deposits may still occur for areas below the marine boundary and these areas are indicated with pink color. MML for new quaternary geological detail maps on scale 1:10,000 is not yet included in the service or download. In the MML dataset, the mapped types under MG are classified according to the possibility of finding marine clay. MML is divided into very large, large, medium, very large but incoherent/thin, small, largely absent or not indicated. The different classes are shown in different blue tones/whites. Blue sausage is given loose mass types where local/thin deposits of marine clay can be expected. The areas above MG appear with thin black chatter, and these can generally be disregarded with regard to the occurrence of marine clay. The MML classification does not apply to water-covered areas under MG. But marine clay is also common below current sea level both in the form of old deposits and new, loosely stored sediments, both of which can be a challenge in terms of stability. Although loose masses have not been mapped under water, for technical reasons, loose-mass polygons are pulled over the shoreline and into the sea. This is reflected in the MML polygons and therefore it is encouraged to place water polygons over MML. Areas for possible marine clay should always be seen together with areas for the marine border.
