Dataset description

NAV publishes official statistics on nav.no about the number of unemployed and jobseekers. This dataset contains statistics on jobseekers distributed by professional background, with more detailed occupational information than published on nav.no. NAV uses the international standard for occupational classification, International Standard Classification of Occupations (ISCO) that the ILO has prepared. For the classification of professions, ISCO-08 is used (before January 2012 ISCO-88 and before May 2001 ISCO-58). The statistics publish with occupational codes (4 digits) including NAV groupings for statistics (gross and fine-grouping) and occupational designations (6 digits) under each occupational code. In data sets, all instances of occupational designations are put together in the same row. The distinction between occupational designations in this variable is comma. Job seekers are the sum of fully unemployed, partly unemployed, jobseekers on measures and other jobseekers. Job seekers are persons seeking employment at NAV and who are available for the work sought. The main rule is that you are considered a job seeker at NAV if you have signed up or renewed the notification within the last two weeks. See About the statistics — job seekers for further explanations. Data sets can be linked via SSB code catalog STYRK code to several statistical classifications for professions. NAV also uses ISCO/STYRK for other statistics and other data sets, so data can be linked based on professional codes. Cleaning of data: cells with less than 4 people are marked with an asterisk for the number of persons and associated occupational designation. In addition, simple occupational designations that identify very small occupations are also preyed with a star.
