Stratigraphy (Stratigraphy)

Lithostratigraphic units (groups, formations and joints) on the Norwegian continental shelf. Includes exploration well paths that penetrate a specific unit, and well paths with core samples. Note Not all wells drilled on the Norwegian shelf are represented here. So far, 1100 released wells have been included — primarily exploration wells — including all released wells in the Barents Sea and the Norwegian Sea. For some intervals in some wells, only groups are interpreted and no formation stops are placed. Joints are only interpreted in wells in the type well area. For well paths with core samples, the core log depth shift has not been taken into account. This shift is usually up to a few meters. Core intervals refer to drillers depth, while lithostratigraphic peaks refer to logger’s depth. Lithostratigraphy is always interpreted in the last well track. In a few cases, drilling cores have been taken in technical sidetracks that are not identical to the last well track.
