Dataset description

The National Registry includes key information about all persons who are or have been resident in Norway, as well as persons who have stayed or reside temporarily in Norway. The register forms the basis for, among other things, the tax figure, electoral number and population statistics. A correct population register is a prerequisite for all citizens to receive information from public authorities, and that their rights and obligations are safeguarded. — Purpose: The purpose is to facilitate the secure, correct and effective registration of basic personal data about the individual, including which persons are resident or staying in Norway.
