Dataset description

The Algarve’s exceptional climate favors the use of beaches outside the traditional season, particularly during the Carnival and Easter periods and on some holidays. Some national and international events have led to the affluence of beaches in these periods taking on significant proportions. As usual, the concessionaires of some beaches in the Algarve, attentive to these movements, have been requesting, since 2004, the operation of non-fixed beach supports, in these periods. Following the applications submitted, allowances have been granted for exceptional periods outside the bathing season. The allocation of licences presupposes that there are safety conditions, in particular environmental and health conditions. The situations that take place are monitored, inter alia, by monitoring the quality of bathing waters of the beaches covered, in order to ensure that there is no risk to the health of bathers. The Algarve’s exceptional climate favors the use of beaches outside the traditional season, particularly during the Carnival and Easter periods and on some holidays.
