Municipal elections 2021. Collection of web content for preservation in Arquivo.pt

On September 26, 2021, the municipal elections were held in Portugal. Arquivo.pt has launched a special collection of electoral content. It was first identified electoral content addresses for the collection using information from various sources: — EyeData website from which you obtained the names of the candidates and the respective municipality (Social Data Lab) — Wikipedia page dedicated to Elections — websites of political parties — website of the National Election Commission — collaborative list for suggestion of electoral content to be preserved (form open to the participation of all citizens) Several methods were used: — manual and systematic identification of content — automatic search for a list of search terms using the Bing Search API (search engine) The recording of content took place in three moments: — pre-electoral collection (1), first test, in order to test page search and recording tools — pre-electoral collection (2) — post-election collection (3) These addresses (URLs) were the starting point for recording electoral content to be preserved by Arquivo.pt. More information The contents, after being recorded, were aggregated into a collection dedicated to municipal elections, EAWP39 (see https://arquivo.pt/collections). The EAWP special collection has as deadlines 2021-07-23 and 2021-10-07, collected 31,266,653 files, 118,440 URLs, resulting in 2.7 Terabytes of information.
