Water Act, Act 58 of 2005: Article 37: Measures for the protection of water abstractions: extended protection area — area of the surface of the land adjoining the intermediate protection zone, intended to protect waters from persistent pollutants, where activities and installations are prohibited or conditioned according to the risk of pollution; DL 382-99: Article 6: Administrative services and public utility restrictions: In the extended protection zone, the following activities and installations may be prohibited or conditioned where they are shown to cause groundwater pollution: use of movable and persistent pesticides in water or which may form toxic, persistent or bioaccumulative substances; wastewater collectors; sewage tanks; lakes and any works or excavations intended for the collection and storage of water or any substances likely to infiltrate; 5 — In the extended protection zone, the following activities and facilities shall be prohibited: transport of hydrocarbons, radioactive materials and other dangerous substances; deposits of radioactive materials, hydrocarbons and hazardous waste; C) Plumbing of toxic products; refineries and chemical industries; e) Trash and landfills.
