Dataset description

The safeguard bands identified in the territorial model aim at safeguarding coastal risks as an indispensable objective for the protection of public interests at national level, having been defined taking into account the physical characteristics of the coastline, the degree of vulnerability and the time horizon of the exposure. The Safeguard Ranges at the coast of Arriba, are strips of territory parallel to the coastline, which have a higher level of sensitivity to the erosive dynamics next to the crest of the arriba and aimed at safeguarding and mitigating impacts arising from instability and events of retreat in coastal areas or other strands in the coastal domain:a) Safeguarding strips for the Sea — Corresponding to the adjacent areas of waste. These bands are projected from the lower boundary of the arriba, including pre-existing foot deposits, and expressed in terms of fixed width or dependent on the height of the adjacent arriba.b) Land Safeguard Bands (Level I) — Correspond to areas adjacent to the crest of the arriba, or other strands in the coastal domain, which are more likely to be affected by strand mass movements of different types and dimensions. These bands are designed from the upper edge of the arriba to the interior, horizontally and in a direction perpendicular to the contour of the arriba, and expressed in terms of fixed width or dependent on the height of the adjacent arriba.c) Safeguard bands to Earth (Level II) — correspond to the areas added to the Level I Land Safeguard Range, having as additional function the absorption of potential strand mass movements with atypical widths. These bands are designed inland, horizontally and towards the contour of the arriba, and expressed in terms of fixed width or dependent on the height of the adjacent arriba.d) Areas of potential instability — correspond to areas consisting of strand planes in the coastal domain, the evolution of which does not result directly from the erosive action of the waves in the foothills. These areas include any natural or artificial slopes (landfill tunnels and excavation slopes) with potential for instability and susceptibility to the occurrence of mass movements of the strand.
