Dataset description

Movement of cases in the courts of 1st instance, by procedural area (From 2010 the data do not include the execution of sentences), in the years 1993 to 2013 Methodological Notes: As of 2010, the data do not include cases in the courts for the execution of sentences. See technical note here. In the update of 31-10-2013, as a result of the correction of errors in accounting for the completed cases resulting from the redistribution of cases resulting from DL No 113-A/2011, of 29 November, the number of cases completed in the courts and civil courts of Lisbon and Porto increased in 2007 from 94 717 to 94 863; in 2008 from 62 371 to 62 668; in 2009 from 58 702 to 59 238; in 2010 from 45 560 to 46 750; in 2011 from 50 523 to 53 457 and in 2012 from 98 678 to 98 974. These figures have been updated in subsequent data disclosures. Since 2007, statistical data on cases in the courts of 1st instance have been collected from the computer system of the courts representing the situation of the cases registered in that system. Residual process values in years where organic units do not exist correspond to pending records of corrections in data transfer. The data for 2012 reflect the effects of the entry into force of Decree-Law 113-A/2011 of 29 November 2011, which reorganises the courts of first instance, reflecting the corresponding transit of cases. ..
