Dataset description

Security and Civil Protection Officers are professionals whose mission is to ensure the safety and protection of persons, assets and assets in different situations of emergency and calamity. In Portugal, these professionals perform functions in various entities and bodies, such as the Public Security Police (PSP), the Republican National Guard (GNR), the Voluntary Firefighters, the Civil Protection, among others. PSP is responsible for public safety in cities and urban areas, ensuring public order, traffic control, crime prevention and investigation, among other tasks. The GNR, in turn, is responsible for public safety throughout the national territory, including rural and forestry areas, and its mission is to ensure the safety of people and property, the protection of nature and the environment and the protection of cultural heritage. Volunteer Firefighters are the main civil protection force in Portugal, responding to emergency situations such as fires, floods, landslides, among others. Civil Protection is a body that coordinates the response to emergencies and disasters, bringing together the different security and civil protection officers, as well as other entities, such as municipalities and health services, to ensure a rapid and effective response to crisis situations.
