SRUP — National Ecological Reserve

Servitude and Restriction of Public Utility (SRUP) — National Ecological Reserve (REN), in force in Continental Portugal. Ren aims to contribute to the sustainable occupation and use of the territory. It is a biophysical structure that integrates areas that are subject to special protection because of their ecological value and sensitivity or their susceptibility to natural hazards. Ren is a restriction of public utility, applying a special territorial regime that conditions the occupation, use and transformation of the soil, identifying the uses and actions compatible with the objectives of REN in the various types of areas that integrate it. The administrative acts carried out in breach of the REN regime are null and void, as well as the administrative acts that allow the carrying out of actions in non-compliance with the purposes that have determined the exclusion of areas of the REN. The delimitation of the REN at municipal level is mandatory. The demarcation letters of REN at municipal level are drawn up on a scale of 1:25 000 or higher by the respective City Council, and are sent for publication in Diário da República by the Commission for Regional Coordination and Development (CCDR) through the System of Automatic Submission of Territorial Management Instruments (SSAIGT) of the DGT. The geographical information provided through the respective web services was produced by the DGT, from information legally deposited in the National Territorial Information System (SNIT) concerning the delimitation of the REN. Given the volume of data provided by this SRUP, problems of downloading geographical information may occur in the use of the national WFS service of REN, suggesting the use of the WFS service of the CCDR Region in which the intended municipality(s) is framed.
