Dataset description

Servitude and Restriction of Public Utility (SRUP) — Natura 2000 Network — Special Protection Zones, in force in Continental Portugal. The Natura 2000 Network — Special Protection Zones are a servitude and restriction of public utility. Natura 2000 is a European ecological network resulting from the implementation of two separate Community directives — the Birds Directive and Directva Habitats. The Natura 2000 Network encompasses areas classified as Special Conservation Areas (SECs) and areas classified as Special Protection Zones (PEZs). The Birds Directive, on the conservation of wild birds, provides for the establishment of protection measures for habitats the protection of which is a priority for the conservation of bird populations identified in that Directive, in particular by the delimitation of Special Protection Areas (SPAs). An EZ is an area of Community importance, located in the national territory, where the necessary measures are applied to maintain or restore the conservation status of wild bird populations and their habitats as well as species of migratory birds whose occurrence on national territory is regular. They are classified as Z.P.E. the most appropriate territories for the protection of bird species, as well as species of migratory birds whose occurrence in the national territory is regular, and the classification of each Z.P.E. is made by Regulatory Decree. The geographical information provided through the respective web services was produced by DGT and other official entities, from information legally deposited in the National Territorial Information System (SNIT) concerning the delimitation of Natura 2000 — Special Protection Areas.
