Dataset description

The Cranet International Comparative Study on Human Resources Management (www.cranet.org), coordinated by Cranfield University, School of Management from the UK, has been underway for more than 20 years. The purpose of the research is to monitor the management of human resources in organisations in a longitudinal international comparative perspective. Slovenia joined more than 40 participating European and other countries in 2001. At that time, 205 organisations employing 200 or more persons were involved in the research carried out at the Centre for the Study of Organisations and Human Resources at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, as well as organisations that, according to the standard classification of activities, belong to the group of activities of the public administration and employ more than 100 persons. A second round of interviews took place in 2004, taking into account the same population as in 2001 for the sample. 161 organisations responded. In 2008, the survey was carried out for the third time, with 219 organisations participating. The data in the survey are obtained using a standardised questionnaire with most closed questions. As a general rule, questions are answered by the Heads of Human Resources/Human Resources. Since this is part of the international research, it is possible to compare the individual members of CRANET and compare it with other organisations in Slovenia, i.e. “benchmarking of human resources management”. Slovenian data can be compared with international data for the group of countries of the European Union, some transition countries and some of the more developed countries of the world.
