Dataset description

The collection contains data on the species and location of recorded alien species (invasives) in the Municipality of Dol pri Ljubljani. An invasive species is usually an alien species that disperses indigenous species. Invasive species can be both animal and plant species. Man brought them from other parts of the world, thus enabling the passage of previously too great obstacles, such as large rivers, mountain ranges, climatic strips,... Some species have been transferred intentionally as grazing, ornamental, melliferous plants, with the purpose of fortifying shores,... but some species have been transferred without being aware of it (by water, seeds, with other plants or animals,...). The problem of invasive species is that they grow very intensively and form a monoculture in the spread of their stands.
