Psychological profile of the COVID-19 pandemic in Serbia, 2020

Rapid response by the population and adherence to preventive measures are two of the most effective ways to limit the spread of infections in the early stages of the epidemic. The survey looks at how people perceive information about the spread of the coronavirus, how well they are informed and how they respond to developments related to the spread of the new coronavirus. More specifically, it refers to the degree to which they trust different representatives and institutions and how credible they find the information they receive from them. In this connection, the study also examines how these perceptions are related. with actual and hypothetical (in the case of the presence of symptoms), adherence to measures to limit the spread of the disease. The research focuses on the perceptions and responses of residents and their links to self-protective behaviour. However, given its long-term nature, the COVID-19 epidemic is a lengthy process linked to dynamic changes in society and in people’s psychological responses and behaviours, the aim was also to examine the differences in perceptions and people’s behavior at individual stages of the epidemic. The survey was therefore conducted in the form of daily measurements until the end of the emergency and additional measurements from March to August 2020. The data file is equipped with Serbian labels, with a syntax available among the supporting materials to translate the file into English. The data file stored in the ADP is final and pre-published is based on preliminary data and may therefore occur to the deviations.
