Dataset description

To obtain a series of products for the generation of environmental information before and after the fire, the delimitation of the fire started on 09/09/2017 in La Granada de Riotinto, Zufre and the Castillo de las Guardas on the PLEIADeS 1B satellite image (resolution 0.5 m) on 22/12/2017. From images of the SENTINEL 2A satellite (31/07/2017 and 19/09/2017), which is based on the contrast between the red and nearby infrared bands of the spectrum, highlights the plant coverage and its vigour over large areas, and the calcination index (NBR-Normalised Burn Ratio) which compares the short infrared and near-infrared bands to determine the short and near-infrared infrared range (NBR-Normalised Burn Ratio). Other products that are produced are the Digital Model of Standard Plantation Altura, lithological, soil and forest variables: Density, volume with rind and dry biomass. As regards biomass calculations, information on the volume of wood and coniferous biomass in the area affected by the fire was obtained on the basis of digital information from the Andalusian Forest Biomass Study. This includes NDVI information derived from the 0.20 m 2018 ortho-photo generated under the “Emergency Management Service — Risk and Recovery Cartography (EMS-RRM)” of the European Union Earth Observation Programme “Copernicus”.
