Indicador de seguimiento y evaluación el coeficiente de atenuación difusa (k490) a partir de imágenes obtenidas por los satélites de la serie OrbView-2 y AQUA. El coeficiente de atenuación difusa en el agua indica como de fuerte es atenuada la luz dentro de la columna del agua. Este parámetro tiene muchas aplicaciones en la óptica del océano, como su relación con la concentración de fitoplancton y sedimentos orgánicos e inorgánicos disueltos en el agua marina.
